There were a few questions asked this last week about how to do the spelling homework. Some of the sorts can be confusing at first.
Please make sure that your child cuts out their spelling word cards. They need to be cut out in order to do the homework.
We have 3 groups of spelling in our class. The first week of class a spelling list was given to the students. Depending on what words they spelled correctly, they were assigned a group to work on vowel/spelling patterns to learn this year. Students can move to different groups as the year progresses as they improve.
The C's and V's on the cards represent the patterns. C's= Consonants and V's= Vowels. The students review over these patterns in school with me on the 1st day of the week and then practice by themselves Tuesday-Thursday.
The following are some pictures to help with the sorts at home.
My name is Jessie, Zoe's mom, living in AZ. How would I know Zoe's specific spellings words on a given week?
ReplyDeleteThank you,

Jessie,
ReplyDeleteEach week I send home a new spelling sheet, with all of the words. The student then cuts up those word cards and they can practice sorting at home.
I don't list the words on here, because the students have a list at home and at school.
If you would like you can email me at abarber@alpine.k12.ut.us
And then I can answer any other questions you have in more detail.
