Battle of the Books
This year we are starting a new program at our school to promote reading! At the end of March, we will be battling within our own class and with other teams in 3rd grade. The questions will be from the 12 books that have been assigned to our grade. Each student will be assigned to read 5 of the books. If they would like to read more than that, that is fine. Since we will be reading them all year long, they have a chance to read all of the books. They will be put on a team with 3-4 other students from our class. Together they will compete to answer questions against other teams.
If you have not turned in your permission slip, please send a note if your child would like to join! We would love to have the whole class competing.
Listed below are the books selected for the 3rd grade battle of the books. (If you have a child in 4th-6th grades, their list is different.)
If you go to the public library, these books would be great to check out for at home reading. You can read them together, if the level is too hard for your child. At the end of reading the book, test your child on their comprehension by asking them questions about the book.
